This play was on at my school. (didn't go...)
But i was watching the Wonderpets (nick jr. show). And they had this parody called the Fiddler CRAB on the roof.
And i fell in love with the music on it. has anyone seen this play? What was it about?

I've seen the play a couple years ago. My highschool performed it (this was the year before I attended it, though.)
I'm pretty sure it takes place in Russia. Also, the Fiddler on the Roof is more of a symbol than an actual character in the play.
The music's really, really neat. I wish I could describe it. It's about a poor Jewish family and the poor village that they're living in; the village has a village 'matchmaker' that chooses who marries who. The matchmaker and the father want his eldest daughter to marry into a rich family, but the daughter is in love with her childhood friend from their village.
Another one of their daughters wants to marry a Christian scholar (or maybe missionary? I don't remember exactly) and she runs away to marry him. Also, their youngest daughter wants to marry one of the Russian soldiers. Basically, crazy stuff happens within the village and their family. It strengthens the importance of tradition and the family.
Buuuut, it's been years since I"ve seen the musical. I reccomend finding the song "Matchmaker" on YouTube, and looking up Wikipedia for the whole synopsis, because I think I got some parts wrong. But it's really a fun play. Audition for it. Because I auditioned for my school play (Beauty and the Best this year ^_^ Last year it was Bat Boy)) and... yeah.
DO IT.
DO IT NOW.
OR... OR I'LL..
DO SOMETHING DRASTIC.

And who does Mama teach? To mend and tend and sew? Preparing her to marry who ever Papa picks. THE DAUGHTERS THE DAUGHTERS!!!
We did a medley for our last Choir Consert and the Treble Choir did Match Maker. So it's very coincidental that you'd say that. You should audition. It's part of the experience.
(Can you tell my school brain is on? XD )

Tradition! I loved the opening song for that! ^_^ Gosh, I miss choir now. ;-;
Yeah, stage crew's pretty cool. I worked backstage last year. I pushed the set on and off.. it's harder than it looks, but soooo much fun! xD

Yes. But it was pretty entertaining to watch the show-- especially when on closing night the actresses forgot the lyrics completely to a song they were singing.I tired not to laugh, because I really did feel bad, but, hey, Murphy's Law. xD

"Anything that can go wrong will go wrong."
And, in the opening cave scene of the play (BAT BOYYYY. WOO.) it's supposed to be completely dark save for the flashlights on stage. The poor guy working the light fixtures accidently turned the house (the whole theatre's) lights on. He was all "OH SNAP OH SNAP OH SNAP D8" xD

Actually it's, "Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong, and at the worst possible moment."

I know. And that's what makes it so much fun and unique.
The funny thing is, though, when things go wrong, it's usually during the actual performance and not exactly during the rehersals. xD

Of course it would be less fun like that.
